Caitlyn Jenner’s secrets

This post is a first for me in an attempt to review a book now online and in book stores. I found Caitlyn Jenner’s book authentic and believable but, am concerned about people generalizing who she is versus crossdresser’s. In my case a heterosexual crossdresser who dresses a couple of times per month. Married with children, grand children and all that. I know Caitlyn Jenner has many children but you need to read the book to learn about that.

The book gives a fascinating look into what goes on in someones mind versus their outward appearance. I remember in 1976 when Bruce Jenner won the Decathlon he was America’s hero and made his country proud. I am sure I am not alone in envying his looks and his life, the guy was a stud. Most guys were sure he was bedding different women 7 days a week especially when he went to Hollywood. Caitlyn sets the record straight with a very different account. The book has many other surprises based on my and other peoples assumptions about Bruce Jenner.

Growing up

We are the same age and grew up in the post WWII era but on different coasts. Being a crossdresser in those days was a very lonely existence because there was really nothing readily available on the topic. It was never discussed in school or church and nobody spoke of it. We were totally alone with our thoughts and desires. I never heard the term DRAG QUEEN until I was 22 which, was about the time I read something about a Transvestite in a magazine.

She explains in the book pretty much what we all went through as most crossdresser’s. Starting at an early age with Mom’s stuff and in her case an older sister in her teenage years. The guilt, shame and self loathing she describes are a familiar story for many of us. We were raised by men who fought in WWII just a few years before and survived it’s horrors. They were tough and expected the same of those they fathered, coached and mentored teaching us to be men. We could never bear their disgust and being thought of as a sissy. It is one thing to self loath but quit another to experience being loathed by someone you loved and respected.

Crosdresser no more

Caitlin’s Jenner’s decision to start her transition to become the woman she feels she needed to be is where the similarity ends. Although much of what Bruce Jenner did through the years parallels most crossdressers experience the decision to become CailtlynJenner is where it ends. Most crossdressers don’t have desires like hers and are content to manage their urges to dress like women.

I hope that people understand the difference between the two groups especially loved ones of crossdrerssers such as wives, children, girlfriends, parents and friends. Crossdressing does not necessarily lead to a sex change. The majority of cross dresser’s live normal lives indulging their desire to dress in women’s clothing part time.

I recommend the Caitlyn Jenner book to anyone interested in crossdressing or sex reassignment surgery. It is a well written interesting story and enjoyable read especially if you think she is trying to be the spokesperson for all trans people. She takes some heat on that label given to her by the media.

FEMININE CURVES FOR CROSSDRESSER’S

This new shapewear garment from Classic Curves is the next evolution of the Veronica line! It’s an outstanding piece of work as the testimony from Robyn Michaels states.

V6-1

I cannot begin to tell you how I much I love the new Veronica 6 Open Bottom Girdle.  But I will try!

The Veronica 6

v6_h200

I love the romance and feminine glamour of vintage fashions from the 1950s and 1960s, especially my preference for wearing garter style stockings rather than pantyhose or thigh highs.  The new Classic Curves Veronica 6 has everything girls like us could want with an open bottom girdle.  The six garters keep the seams of my vintage nylon stockings nice and straight which is important for making a good impression when out clubbing and dancing the night away.  And the visual effect that the padding provides makes every dress style that much more alluring and feminine.

V6-3

And I must admit to a greater sense of confidence in my appearance when wearing the Veronica 6 when out at more public places like restaurants and events.  Even women take notice of the “curves in all the right places”.  And the look is very “natural” and not artificial looking at all.  The attention to detail (delicate lace trim at the hem of the girdle) also was noticed and greatly appreciated by a gentleman admirer who appreciates a girl who dresses to impress.

The Veronica 6 open bottom girdle is pin-up perfect, too!  Classic glamour from Classic Curves International…what more could I ask for?

DIVA LAS VEGAS 2017

For the first time in a long time I decided to attend a crossdresser function and chose the Diva Las Vegas 2017 event this year. I have never been big on the idea of going out dressed in Las Vegas fearing rowdy and obnoxious drunks harassing me. Friends who have gone out there told me not to worry there is no problem dressing in Vegas.

Nightlife

My friend Ashley knows the town well and got us a great rate at the beautiful Palazzo Hotel. I have stayed there before so I was worried that instead of drunks it would be stuffy people staring and pointing at us.  That was not the case at all with everyone being courteous and respectful. Even having a drink at the bar by myself was no problem. The restaurants treated us very well especially the staff at Aquanox and Del Monaco’s restaurants. I guess our hair was blonde but our money green.

The crowds on the street paid us no mind and the staff at Macy’s, Dillard’s, and Nordstrom’s were wonderful.

Shopping

The cosmetics  ladies at the MAC counter and others were great fun. It was rewarding to sit and watch beginners get their first makeover so intent learning. None of my fears came to fruition and I had a great time shopping and trying  on clothes.

We only signed up for the night time activities at Diva doing our own thing during the day which included shopping en fem and golf in DRAB. We take golf seriously so we don’t dress as ladies for that activity. To be honest we don’t act like them either.

Newcomers

Two of our sisters from CHIC also attended but, being their first crossdressing outing they went for the whole enchilada so we only saw them at night. It was fun watching them go full throttle experiencing everything that was going on.

The Event

The DVLV format takes some getting used to if you are accustomed to the typical conference/convention format. They have fixed schedules and all the activities are held in the convention area of a host hotel.

DLVG has no vendor area, seminars, speakers or vendors at the event. Some events have a cost but you only pay for those if you sign up for them. Instead there is shopping for whatever you want in town. The DVLG website gives you a list of places by category. They provide  guidance on what to expect from bars and stores.

Activities

The event is held at various locations all over Las Vegas and you can opt in or go on your own. There are three hotels participating from downtown to the strip with special DLVG rates.  Of course you can stay where ever you wish if you have a favorite hotel.

You choose which DLVG activities that are of interest and sign up for them online before the event starts. They have a group text that goes out to everyone that signed up for each event. You can have reminders sent to your phone for your activities an hour ahead of time.

There were crossdressers from New Zealand and Canada attending and I am sure other countries as well. I am not sure what the total number of attendees but it was over 100 for sure.

The organizers did a good job of taking care of the details and it was a fun time for everyone with no problems. From what I could see the public seemed to have no issues with the crossdressers and the hotels, bars, restaurants etc. were very accommodating to everyone.

The pictures from the event this year will be up shortly and you can see them and find out more about Diva Las Vegas here http://divalas.vegas/ You can sign up for their mailing list and find out about next year’s DVLV 2018.

CROSSDRESSING 101 FOR THE BEGINNER

Crossdressing 101 is a new page on the Micki Finn website that should be of interest to new crossdressers. T Girls just venturing out or thinking about it will find it helpful. I could not remember any website pages over the years that addressed the beginning crossdresser.  Wannabe crossdressers with  absolutely no experience in dressing up not knowing where or how to start.

Remembering all of the trial and error mistakes I personally made  trying to figure it all out. The huge cost of those experiments along with the disappointment with the bad outcome.  The wigs that made me look like I had a poodle on my head in one case and a vampire in the next.  The dress that made me look like a parade float. I thought it would be a great help for beginners to avoid all of the fun and fast track their way to being beautiful.

WHY

Why is something that I am trying to explain in the Crossdressing 101 page. Thy why is more important than the how because properly applying the wrong foundation the correct way will produce bad results. Even if you followed the instructions perfectly you were doomed from the start. This is especially true with eye shadow where women and crossdressers put on a shade they see on someone else. The why in eyeshadow is to make your eyes more attractive sometimes dramatic. It should compliment your hair and skin tone. Blonde hair with blue eyes looks best with brown shades or shadow which highlight the eye color. Blue eyeshadow looks terrible on blondes or pretty much anybody. People see the blue eyelid and lose the eye all together. Jaclyn Hill is my favorite source when it comes to eye makeup.

CROSSSDRESSING 101 is aimed at the beginner but should be informative for everyone and possibly it be helpful t the old pro’s also.

I hope you enjoy it and let me know if I missed something.
