CROSSDRESSING FOR HALOWEEN

CROSSDRESSING FOR HALOWEEN

Crossdressing for Halloween is probably the ultimate fantasy for every crossdresser at least when they first begin anyway. I think like me everyone thinks it would be the safest way to venture out for the first time crossdressed in public. Although I thought of it I went out dressed for many years before finally going to a Halloween party. It was safe given by a crossdresser and her wife in their home. I got ready in my home and my wife sneaked me out the door keeping watch for neighbors.

HALOWEEN 2018

After many years one of the CHIC members threw a Halloween party last weekend, Of course everyone was crossdressing for Halloween. My wife talked me into wearing a “Queen of Harts” costume. She was not attending with me so I was to go alone. That is not a big deal other than I was not staying at a motel. Motels often let you park right outside your door so you only have a few steps to get in the car. I was staying in a high rise Marriott hotel on the 7th floor.

Crossdressing For Halloween

THE ELEVATOR

I have stayed in this Marriott many times and am comfortable with it. The staff knows me and I think they are always interested in what I will be wearing each night I am there. I am always overdressed and I think the ladies approve of my taste.

Saturday night was different because my wife goaded me into getting dressed in my costume at the hotel. That meant I was going to be driving to the party dressed in it. I wanted to rent rent a second room just for that night to get ready but had trouble selling her on the cost.

CROSSDRESSING MARRIOTT

All dressed and ready to go I ventured out of my room and down the hall to the elevator as the Queen of Harts. I was probably only 20 feet down the hall when I heard a door slam behind me. I would have company in the elevator going down and he showed up 2 seconds behind me. Fortunately he asked if I was going to a party and I said yes, to which he said well you look great. I thanked him and we got into the elevator.

Lucky me!

The usually quiet lobby was full of people checking in for a big wedding that night so I gave them something to talk about and left.

The party was about a hour away and was great fun but I left a little after ten. after changing into a more contemporary jacket, skirt and heels.

Another great crossdressing adventure.

CROSSDRESSING ALONE

CROSSDRESSING ALONE

We have all done it, everyone pretty much starts out that way unless someone dresses you as a joke or experiment. Most of us indulged in our fascination with women’s clothes all by ourselves. Many men will always be crossdressing alone away from prying eyes and the possible negative repercussions of others.

21ST CENTURY CROSSDRESSING

Thankfully there is much more acceptance of crossdressing today and there isn’t the stigma that existed in years past. I go out today to all kinds of mainstream businesses and entertainment venues without getting much more than a glance. It wasn’t always that way though.

GROWING UP

I grew up crossdressing alone and just had an article published in SisterHouse based on my early crossdressing experiences. Actually lack of experiences would be more accurate combined with lack of knowledge of crossdressing. You can follow this link the the article GROWING UP ALONE.  Tasi says it is somewhat sad in the beginning which is true but don’t feel sorry for me I have moved far beyond that time.

GROWN UP

crossdressing alone

I am firmly invested in 21st century crossdressing and only look back only to share with others especially the younger ones what it could have been like for them.

Forget about using the ladies room you were more worried about being the scourge of the community and shunned by virtually everyone. Mothers would not want their children playing with you and you would never get invited to a birthday party.  If discovered you would be immediately mistrusted and you’re motives questioned. It was against the law to impersonate a female in public and you could be arrested. I guess they assumed you were trying to trick some unsuspecting lad into being attracted to you.

Follow the link to SisterHouse for more growing up in mid 20th century California and crossdressing alone.

Enjoy,

CROSSDRESER WIVES IN SAN FRANCISCO

Crossdresser Wives

Crossdresser wives sometimes accompany their husbands out in public in fact some are quite comfortable doing it. Last weekend a group of CHIC members all rendezvoused in San Francisco for weekend of fun crossdressing. There were 5 crossdressers and 3 wives joining their crossdressed husbands.

San Francisco Crossdresser wives

The Redwood Room

Tonya (seated) and I are posing with the big chair in the Redwood Room near Union Square. Both our wives were with us but were camera shy but not us. We had just come out of the Redwood Room at the Clift Hotel after enjoying a nightcap. It was our first night in town and we enjoyed a leisurely dinner at Jardinière with other crossdressers wives and their husbands.

Dining Out

We were there a total of 3 days and dined at The Big 4 on Friday night and Farallon on Saturday night. All of us Crossdressers and crossdresser wives went to see Beach Blanket Babylon after dinner. Crossdresser Micki Finn

Shopping

The days were spent shopping for most of the ladies at Macy’s, Nordstrom, Sephora and other lady destinations.  All of the stores are Trans friendly and go out of their way to give you the help you need. This is especially true trying on clothes in the changing rooms where sales clerks will find an empty room for you. They will also check on you to see if you need a different size so you don’t have to keep getting dressed in between trying clothes.

Compromises

I do not dress during the days when my crossdresser wife joins me for outings. It is part of the compromise we worked out decades ago because she is more comfortable under cover of night. However I do shop dressed during the day on outings that my crossdresser wife does not attend which, is the majority of the time.

Traveling T Gurl

I go to San Francisco several times each year in addition to Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland and other cities without her so I get plenty of shopping in throughout the year.

PASSABLE VS. ACCEPABLE FOR CROSSDRESSER’S

PASSABLE

Passable vs. Acceptable is the question that prompted me to update my  CROSSDRESSER PASSING IN PUBLIC  page. Summer is almost behind us and my thoughts have drifted toward getting dressed again after a summer of doing guy stuff.

passable vs. acceptable

Micki is planning a new road trip and in that process security is always an important factor. Because passing is something I am not able to do. I don’t attempt to pass as a woman when I am dressed en fem. Micki made a decision many years ago that it is not practical for me to pull it off.

PASSABLE VS. ACCEPTABLE

That is not to say that I don’t put a maximum effort to look as glamorous and feminine as I can.  I just chose not to attempt to deceive people into thinking I was a real woman.

passable vs. acceptable
Ladies Room Break

The real me is far more interesting  and fun than the hybrid I would be creating.  Given the choice of being passable vs. acceptable as a crossdresser I choose acceptable crossdresser.

Most importantly  there is no guarantee that I will be accepted when out and about which is why I take precautions to minimize my risk of danger.

SAN FRANCISCO CROSSDRESSING DAY 1

San Francisco Crossdresser

San Francisco is one of my favorite crossdressing destinations and I was able to squeeze a trip in this month. Summer always creates problems with my dressing schedule so this was a last minute deal. My BFF Ashley flew up to meet me for the weekend but I was on my own for Thursday night.

Night 1

Thursday  afternoon my early fight got me to the hotel around 2:00PM. My luggage shipped ahead so it was waiting. After a quick lunch it was back to my room to start the magic. Plenty of  of time for my 7:30 dinner reservation at Jardiniere in  downtown San Francisco. Crossdressing in San Francisco

I finished the process early enough to visit the European Bar overdressed as usual downstairs to get them warmed up for my Cosmo.

Just after 7:00PM I broke out my phone and ordered my UBER Coach to Jardiniere for dinner.

I have been going to Jardiniere crossdressed  for a long time alone and with others and it is one of my favorites.

They know me there so it is no problem dining alone in my cozy booth upstairs. I started with the Warm Bread Salad then followed with the chicken padron, meyer lemon, eggplant, black garlic.

Jardiniere caters mostly to the San Francisco theater crowd so by 7:30 they are off to the performance and the restaurant is not so busy. The slower pace gives me time to interact with the servers and have an unhurried meal.

I skipped desert preferring to head back to my hotel for my night, night Cosmo. The alarm went off  at 5:00AM that morning  so I wanted to make it an early night getting some rest for the shopping extravaganza Friday.

Day’s two and three will follow this post with more San Francisco  fun dining and shopping adventures.

If you subscribe to my blog you will be sent an e-mail as soon as they are posted.

Enjoy,

OVERDRESSED? ABSOLUTLY!

Overdressing

Overdressed is a term heard often when people contemplate going somewhere and have concerns about how others will be dressed. Crossdresser’s are no exception and you here it all the time especially when people are going to Trans or Crossdresser events.

overdressed crossdresser

Activities like shopping and where you will be going typically dictates what you will be wearing. Shopping at the mall in Las Vegas in hot temperatures sees thongs, shorts, tank tops or short sleeve blouses. Unfortunately some “T” people wear the same thing to dinner like so many non “T” people do.

SHOPPING

I very seldom go out shopping when I travel largely because most of my shopping is done on the internet. I also hate daylight preferring night time lighting which is much softer. Besides I can buy anything I want in DUKE mode and nobody cares.

Therefore I live for the night and overdress to my hearts content. I looked like a parade float when I went to Diva Las Vegas this year but did not care. I have been dressing up not down since I was a little boy and have no plans to stop now. Being dressed to the hilt is what I enjoy so that’s the way its gonna be. I accept the label of Glamour Puss proudly!

Overdressed

Last weekend I went out in Long Beach Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday nights and overdressed every single night.

overdressed crossdresser

Friday night I met friends at a very hip mainstream restaurant in downtown Long Beach.

Saturday night was our CHIC club meeting night so I joined 14 other members at a different main stream favorite.

Monday & Tuesday nights I went solo at favorite pubs on Naples Island near Long Beach.

I did not fool anyone not passable and do not care nor did anyone else. My Uber driver greeted me opened the car door and took my hand when I exited the car. Present like a lady, act like a lady, and be treated as a lady.

Get dressed!

             Go Out!

                      Have fun!

CROSSDRESSING A LOOK BACK

CrossdressingCrossdressing

Crossdressing has been around since the beginning of time and most everything that you read about the experience comes from someone born after 1950. I’m Dressed you’re not is a look back at the adventures and friendships formed over 6 decades of being out and about.  It is based on the experiences of John whom I have always known by her fem name Lane. Lane recently turned 92 years young and is still buzzing along.

Full Disclosure

I first met Lane at a CHIC meeting almost 20 years ago and immediately assumed she was the real deal. I figured she was married to one of the crossdresser’s attending the meeting. It was not until someone introduced me that I found out the she was one of us. In addition she was one of the founding members of CHIC (Crossdresser’s Heterosexual Intersocial Club) and it’s first president.

Friendship

The book jumps around somewhat but, the most important point is the long term (Non Sexual) crossdressing special relationships. It describes friendships between the people in the book. It is not written like a who done it mystery novel but, rather a collection of stories about what is was like dressing as a woman in the 1940’s, 50’s 60,70’s’ 80’s and through the 1990’s.

Most books on this subject written today are from Baby Boomers and start in the 1960’s at the earliest. Lane gives a 92 year olds perspective on what it was like to go out in public fully dressed as a women in the pre 1980’s era. Crossdresser’s in those days you could be locked up in jail for impersonating a female. Crossdresser’s just going to a club dressed as a woman was all you had to do to be arrested and prosecuted. Being caught dressed resulted in many divorces, lost jobs and ruined lives.

Younger readers might want to ponder that for a while!

The world assumed that you were trying to fool an unsuspecting men into sex otherwise why would you dress like a woman? Thankfully the world has changed today and things are far better for those who cross dress.

Those who came before the crossdresser’s of today pioneered the movement and passed on what they knew. It was Lane who taught me the technique I use for my false fingernails.

The stories she tells have been verified by others I have spoken with and are true. Most of us are envious that we cant but she was lucky enough to pull it all off!

Enjoy!

COOL HEADED CROSS DRESSER

Cross Dresser dressing in the heat of summer is always a challenge. Summer is just around the corner and I discovered something pretty much everyone can benefit from. Ladies from the warmer states will appreciate this neat little invention when out in the hot weather. The light weight liner fits inside your wig and a peel off sticky strip holds it in place against your forehead. Call it a cross dresser head gasket! (I could not resist) They inventor says it pulls the perspiration away from your body and absorbs it. With thin construction you don’t even know it is there.

You can also wear it in your golf cap when living in macho mode to keep the sweat out of your eyes. Helmets, hard hats, pretty much anything that you wear on your head when it is hot out.

CROSSDRESSER WIG WASH

Crossdresser wig choices vary but, it is important that you get it right preferably the first time. I didn’t and it took years for me to get to a point where I am finally satisfied with my wig style.

Thinner

I recently changed to a shorter look for several reasons the first of which was the short sides and high top make my head look thinner. Maybe its just my face but the look is thinner which is more feminine.

Styling

The second reason is that short wigs are easier to style making traveling much easier with them. Crossdresser wig washing is also simple to do with my wigs.

The third is better ability to travel under the radar if I want to blend in a little better. I am not talking about passing but, a crossdresser wig can make you stand out from a distance. Big hair and long styles attract  more attention than shorter styles especially blonde and red.

I discovered Godiva’s Secret Wigs last year and ordered a shorter style called Freedom in Nutmeg-F color. I subsequently ordered another in Creamy Toffee-R witch stands for dark roots for a softer look.

Click on the video below for a demonstration on wig care and styling.

Just think about being on a crossdressing adventure in Las Vegas when the wind kicks up blowing dust everywhere. When you finally head up to your room your wig is flat and looks dirty. You only have one more day in town and not time to get is cleaned and styled.

If you are traveling with the wig hangers like the ones I use and covered in my post HAVE WIG WILL TRAVEL you could do a quickie wash then hang it in the shower to dry.

The great thing about Godiva’s Wigs is that after drying you can just shake them out and easily style them with your fingers,

CROSSDRESSER CLUBS

CROSSDRESSER CLUBS

Over the past 15 years or so I have noticed the decline in the number of crossdresser clubs and or support groups around the country. They don’t go out with a lot of fanfare they just seem to fade away, here one day and gone the next. This at a time when the transgender community seems to be growing with numerous websites and magazines coming online. There are many online groups that are easy to join and have few rules in most cases. The main purpose seems to be chatting or exchanging ideas and sharing photos.

ACCEPTANCE

The media has now taken a greater interest in us and transgender characters are being seen in movies and TV. The public in many places is either more tolerant of us or just ambivalent so we are able to go more public places at least in the bigger cities anyway.

If this perception is true and the Tran’s community is growing with many people leaving the safety of their closet and not just dragging the computer in there with them. Then why are the groups dying? One would think that the number of groups would be growing not shrinking.

The question has dogged me for some time now so I thought I would explore some observations with you.

THE PROBLEM

To say that a crossdresser clubs died because people stopped supporting it by attending the meetings and moved on is to state the obvious. The real question is what happened? Why did they stop and where did they go? In some cases the dynamic leadership left first and without it the group withered then faded away. None of the member’s felt the calling to take the helm and steer the way so everything just stopped.

With other groups it seems like the leadership changed the direction of the club which displeased some of the membership who then moved on weakening the club and leading to its eventual demise. Age seems to play a major role also with younger crossdressers preferring other social outlets.

LONGEVITY

So what are the crossdresser clubs who are still alive doing right and are they too shrinking, growing or just maintaining their numbers. From what I can determine most are not growing and are lucky to maintain their numbers replacing those who leave for various reasons. Most are losing members and not replacing them some say because of the new freedoms we have going out. During the 1990’s the general Los Angeles area had 6 crossdressser clubs two were private and four open to anyone. Today there is 1 which is CHIC a private security conscious group. What are the crossdresser clubs who are growing or maintaining doing right?

crossdresser clubs

The remaining private group of which I am a member is CHIC (Crossdressers Heterosexual Intersocial Club) which started in 1975. It was spun off from Dr. Virginia Prince’s original “Heels & Hose Club” that started some years earlier.

In those days dressing in women’s clothes in public could get you beaten up, murdered or arrested leading to job loss, divorce and in many cases financial ruin. Being labeled as a homosexual was a certainty regardless of if you were doing anything sexual at the time of your arrest. The early founders of CHIC decided that security would play a crucial role in the way the club functioned and how members were brought into the group. The taking of photographs at meetings was forbidden and member’s real names were never used. Guests had to be cleared by board members and the club president in advance of attending a meeting which was typically held in member’s homes.

CHANGE

Fast forward to the present day 43 years later and CHIC is still functioning although the membership has evolved with members coming and going. Security is still paramount even though laws and public opinions have changed so being discovered does not have the same ramifications that it once did. Members just prefer to keep their crossdressing private between them and their wife and in some cases select family members. Just because being a TG is all over television shows and movies does not mean that everyone is accepting and that it could not do damage to your career if your dressing became public knowledge. You may not care but your wife and family usually appreciate your keeping it a closely guarded secret.

SOCIAL

One big difference between CHIC and other crossdresser clubs is that although the club has helped many crossdressers over the years it has not really been a support group, but rather a social club. The emphasis is on fun and comradely operating sort of like a sorority of men dressed as women. CHIC is also like a business selling a product which is a quality crossdressing experience. Meetings are social events and don’t really have a structure and no business is discussed. The quality comes from the people that you will be with, where you will be, security, and what you can expect that evening. Applicants are evaluated based on how they will interact with other members and enhance the CHIC experience for everyone.

MAINSTREAM

Over the years as members moved on so did opportunities for party’s held in member’s homes. This led to reserving banquet rooms in restaurants until meeting attendance dropped below the 25 person room guarantee making it too costly. Most meetings now are held in mainstream public restaurants where CHIC is welcomed and encouraged to come back often. They have been researched in advance and meetings held with the management/owners. The details such as security, bathrooms, valet parking etc. have been agreed upon in advance. Members and wives look forward to an evening out with friends at a nice restaurant with great food all while crossdressed. They experience the same ambiance and atmosphere that they would if not crossdressed

WIVES

Wives are a treasured part of the CHIC experience and their happiness is a important consideration. Without their support the CHIC experience would not be what it is for the members. Members are expected to dress appropriately for meetings and not bring undue attention to themselves and others. Although wives do not have a direct role in the management of the club they have influence and their concerns are always a top priority. If they are supportive of the club and attend often that increases the husband’s opportunity to dress and go out. Although most members are married some wives opt to not attend and single members are welcome.

MEMBERS

CHIC members typically are married, over 45 with children and sometimes grandchildren who have left the house. They have more time and money now to devote to crossdressing and are typically secure in their career. They have interests of all kinds and are typically involved in sports like golf, sailing, surfing, travel, theater, archery, hunting, fishing, flying, just to name a few. Some have many of these sports in common but most of all dressing and looking their best. It is not uncommon for members to see each other away from crossdressing to enjoy some of these interests.

For more information on CHIC please go to the website at www.chicladies.org.

A year ago, I joined the Vanity Club which has been around almost as long as CHIC but has a bit different membership criterion. It is not strictly heterosexual and sexual preferences are not considered for membership along with religion and politics. It is just not discussed period. I am still 100% hetero married for over 4 decades but, travel often and wanted to find other like minded classy CD’s without trolling bars. The Vanity Club is bucking the trend and growing attracting many younger members. The club has over 200 members worldwide. Membership is by invitation only and the process is extensive to be invited to join.

1ST TIME DILEMMA

So over the years positive changes have made it easier for those of us comfortable going out dressed but done nothing for the first timer. Even though it is easy to find a group online they still don’t know who they will be meeting or if they will even show up. Nobody to hold their hand and introduce them to going out dressed unless they attempt to join one of the crossdresser clubs  first.

Looking at the age information available online in addition to my own observations crossdresser clubs seem to be largely made up of Baby Boomers ages 50 to 80 with a few exceptions previously noted. The clubs that evolve with the changes are doing better than others but, still must have something to offer younger members.

CROSSDRESSER CONVENTIONS

Although far fewer in number than they used to be it seems like events like Diva Las Vegas are where CD’s can connect. Diva is loosely  organized and billed as a vacation not a convention but they have a Big Sister program for 1st timers. Big Sisters are accomplished crossdressers willing to take less confident dressers under their wing for guidance.

Time will tell but friendship, comradely and the willingness to help others along the journey seems like the right path.
