Tag Archives: Makeup tips for crossdressers

Makeup is the number one area of interest to crossdresser’s whether they are just starting out or have been at it for a while. I am not a big fan of trying to pass because I don’t think it is achievable for most of us. One thing is for sure though without it you have no chance of passing. After a bit of work I have updated the Crossdresser Makeup page with more detailed instruction and new pictures. I hope the illustrations and procedure make sense to you. I am attempting to give the reader more of a step by step tutorial along with product pictures.

My procedure has sped up my makeup time considerably by simplifying the process. It emphasizes doing the areas that are the most difficult first. The eyes have the most detail with multiple different products and techniques applied in a confined area.  Doing them first allows you to make corrections without screwing up your foundation or contouring.

I have heard about the City of Portland Oregon being very crossdresser friendly from folks on YELP last year. I knew there were crossdressers there but  did not have a solid feel for it.

Ms. Micki became a member of the Vanity Club this year which opened access to crossdresser VC members in the area.  Carolyn a local member graciously agreed to meet me for diner on Friday night and gave me some pointers on the area.

Micki Finn takes to the road

I stayed at a hotel I had been scoping out for sometime and was not disappointed at all because it lived up to my expectations.

The Hotel Deluxe was built in the early 1900’s but is meticulously maintained. The Deluxe  promotes a theme of the glory days of Hollywood throughout the facility.

From the Deluxe lobby to the halls on every floor old Hollywood is the prevailing  thought every where you look. Pictures adorn every available wall and speak elegance everywhere.

The food was excellent and the service was quick in addition to friendly.

Once the doorman opens the front entrance you are greeted by impressive stairs leading to the lobby where the Hollywood theme takes over.

Micki was the only crossdresser there and as usual over dressed for the occasion.  I think given the theme of the hotel I should be looked at as an example of properly attire for a lady in the hotel. The weather was in the 50’s but most ladies were casual in booties and quilted coats. That doesn’t work for this  it’s always dress up time for Mz Micki.

The Driftwood Room bar was of course my favorite place in the hotel with a very friendly staff.  The bartenders made sure that I never had an empty glass. ( God I love that) The bartenders also make a great Cosmo. The staff takes the time to chat and make sure that you are having an enjoyable experience. That is one of the big reasons I stay in Boutique hotels almost exclusively. The room reminds me of the fancy restaurants I went to as a kid in Hollywood.

I just thought this elevator was so cool with Mother of Pearl inlays made from Abalone shells and deep black lacquer walls. I felt like such a star!

Girls night out

I just returned from a trip to one of my most favorite cities San Francisco with my BFF Ashley. We both crossdressed and  met up with two of my Vanity Club crossdresser sisters Kelli and Diane. Diane  lives  in town but Kelli drove some distance to meet us at our hotel for drinks.

We Uber’d up then we went for dinner at Waterbar Restaurant.  Water Bar specializes in seafood and it is the best  along with the service. We got an awesome table next to the window with views of the harbor and Bay Bridge. The ambiance is wonderful with large 2 story column aquariums filled with large salt water fish.

This picture with my new short wig was taken in the Warwick Regis Hotel lobby while waiting for the other girls to meet me in the bar for cocktails.

I don’t do crossdressed pictures too often but, this one taken in the hotel lobby with the bar in the background. San Francisco is a special place so I make an exception while there.

I bought the Moto jacket this last summer but had the skirt already and fortunately the zippers matched. San Francisco is the most friendly place to crossdress in my experience anyway. I am crossdressed the entire time that I am there usually and shop to my hearts content.

Shopping while crossdressed is no big deal with Macy’s and the other stores in Union Square. I would recommend wearing flats though because the hills are killer for heels.

For many crossdresser’s summer means presenting a fuzzier version of your girly self. Most of us  opting for pants to cover your legs instead of skirts. For a married crossdresser shaving  sometimes it is not optional and it is best to comply. Crossdressers shaved legs might not bother the crossdresser but wives have very valid concerns. Bare legs would be obvious and she would probably decline invitations for BBQ’s and other outdoor activities. That is not fair to her not to mention if  kids are involved.

Wearing  Pants

Depending where you live the summer might only last a couple of weeks and then you can go back to your smooth hairless look. Trust me your lady will really appreciate it. Besides most women these days are wearing jeans or some other form of long pants so this is your chance to look CHIC.

In my case she is not the one who decides my  stopping shaving my legs and other areas. I am an outdoor person and enjoy outdoor sports and other activities during the summer months. I want to enjoy myself without being concerned about people noticing my crossdresser shaving legs.

Don’t get me wrong I think about crossdressing the whole summer.  That is why when the weather cools and the days grow shorter there is a little bounce in my step that turns into a sway once the heels go on. I usually have a little coming  out party sort of by taking a trip to San Francisco for a couple of days shopping. Immersion therapy I call it after my summer dry spell.

For those who share my situation cheer up it won’t be too much longer and can still shop online during summer.

Counting down with you,

Crossdresser photos are something that at one time or another we will all use. I have friends that are fanatics taking them what seems to be constantly. Phones are the most practical because we all have them and they are so convenient. A friend can take one for you or you can ask a stranger  to take it. If you are by yourself the length of your arm limits your distance from the camera. The selfie stick was pretty cool but you could only stand so far away because it must be held. This little gem below is the best crossdresser photos much better.

I discovered this little gem the other day and will be trying it out on my San Francisco outing soon. The remote is Bluetooth wireless and I will be testing how far away it will work.

I like the fact that it is compact and light weight while being machined from aluminum for durability. It is easy to use once the Bluetooth pairing is done and you can take pictures 20 feet away. Getting the it to focus from that distance so the image is not grainy is a problem though. I think the next time I will focus on a hard object near where I intend to stand.

This way instead of designing a 10 foot selfie stick I can take pictures from that distance with this remote. I love the way I look from 10 or 20 feet away.

Fox Caitlyn Jenner Interview April 24th

Monday April 24th Caitlyn Jenner Crossdresser will be on the Tucker Carlson show at 8:00pm.

I will  be watching to see how Tucker approaches this subject on his inaugural show. Also to see  former crossdresser Caitlyn Jenner answers now that she is post op.

Caitlyn’s decision to transition is her business and I hope she finds happiness in life.

Transgender Labels

What concerns me is something she may not have any control over unless she specifically addresses it. That is her being a spokesperson for the Transgender Community. This I fear is the easy route for the media.  Caitlyn is definitely the most recognized Trans person in the world. Simply put her story is not everyone’s story. I hope that they don’tconveniently list me under the Transgender label.

There are many of us with no interest in Transsexual SRS. Many have put our crossdressing in a place where it is working for us. We are heterosexual crossdresser’s most married with family’s who dress one or two times a month. I hope they mention the different groups under that Transgender label.

I have seen many positive changes as a result of Caitlin’s going public. One  is a generally more acceptable feeling toward crossdressers with the public. People seem to have a more accepting attitude towards me when I am crossdressed in public. When transgender is the topic people are more positive aside from the women’s bathroom issue.

Maybe they think we are all former Olympic Gold medalists? NOT!

If it was somehow up to me to decide who should be the official spokesperson for the crossdresser community. I can think of no better representative than Caitlyn Jenner. I might not agree with every position she may take but I think she is doing good things for the community.

For the first time in a long time I decided to attend a crossdresser function and chose the Diva Las Vegas 2017 event this year. I have never been big on the idea of going out dressed in Las Vegas fearing rowdy and obnoxious drunks harassing me. Friends who have gone out there told me not to worry there is no problem dressing in Vegas.

My friend Ashley knows the town well and got us a great rate at the beautiful Palazzo Hotel. I have stayed there before so I was worried that instead of drunks it would be stuffy people staring and pointing at us.  That was not the case at all with everyone being courteous and respectful. Even having a drink at the bar by myself was no problem. The restaurants treated us very well especially the staff at Aquanox and Del Monaco’s restaurants. I guess our hair was blonde but our money green.

The crowds on the street paid us no mind and the staff at Macy’s, Dillard’s, and Nordstrom’s were wonderful.

The cosmetics  ladies at the MAC counter and others were great fun. It was rewarding to sit and watch beginners get their first makeover so intent learning. None of my fears came to fruition and I had a great time shopping and trying  on clothes.

We only signed up for the night time activities at Diva doing our own thing during the day which included shopping en fem and golf in DRAB. We take golf seriously so we don’t dress as ladies for that activity. To be honest we don’t act like them either.

Two of our sisters from CHIC also attended but, being their first crossdressing outing they went for the whole enchilada so we only saw them at night. It was fun watching them go full throttle experiencing everything that was going on.

The Event

The DVLV format takes some getting used to if you are accustomed to the typical conference/convention format. They have fixed schedules and all the activities are held in the convention area of a host hotel.

DLVG has no vendor area, seminars, speakers or vendors at the event. Some events have a cost but you only pay for those if you sign up for them. Instead there is shopping for whatever you want in town. The DVLG website gives you a list of places by category. They provide  guidance on what to expect from bars and stores.

The event is held at various locations all over Las Vegas and you can opt in or go on your own. There are three hotels participating from downtown to the strip with special DLVG rates.  Of course you can stay where ever you wish if you have a favorite hotel.

You choose which DLVG activities that are of interest and sign up for them online before the event starts. They have a group text that goes out to everyone that signed up for each event. You can have reminders sent to your phone for your activities an hour ahead of time.

There were crossdressers from New Zealand and Canada attending and I am sure other countries as well. I am not sure what the total number of attendees but it was over 100 for sure.

The organizers did a good job of taking care of the details and it was a fun time for everyone with no problems. From what I could see the public seemed to have no issues with the crossdressers and the hotels, bars, restaurants etc. were very accommodating to everyone.

The pictures from the event this year will be up shortly and you can see them and find out more about Diva Las Vegas here http://divalas.vegas/ You can sign up for their mailing list and find out about next year’s DVLV 2018.
