Artificial crossdresser fingernails are an essential part of crossdressing in my opinion and I won’t go out the door without them. They add the extra little feminine accent topping off your outfit and truly take your presentation to a higher level. I have been making my own for years and really like the durability of the Talon nails I use. That said I have been frustrated with the results of my French Manicures when it comes to getting the white polish correct.

I will spare you all of the details but it will suffice to say that after a lot of work (90%) it typically goes south with one false move. An unsteady hand or polish that isn’t quite dry yet can scrap the whole project. I decided to do some searching online for artificial crossdresser fingernails hoping to find some that would fit correctly. Most of my friends that wear them buy from Amazon with no problems but I don’t care for the styles they buy. I prefer the French Manicure style in a more conservative length so they look good without attracting too much attention.
I purchased about 10 sets over a couple of months before finding a product I am reasonably happy with. I threw away the first 8 sets because the thumbs were to narrow regardless of what the seller’s said. They also were too short even when I ordered the medium length because they start to taper too early exposing the ends of your nails underneath. Just before I made my last trip to Las Vegas I read on one of the crossdresser sites that Impress nails by KISS had wider thumbs for us.
ARTIFICIAL CROSSDRESSER FINGERNAILS
The KISS store on Amazon did not say anything about artificial crossdresser fingernails but based on what I read on the crossdresser site I decided to give them a try and picked the Impress Bare French in the medium length because they did not come in Large.

The fit was perfect although the thumb was marginal and required perfect placement but I got several compliments on them. They come with the gel tabs already on the nails but I did not trust it so used my regular tabs. If they came in large I would order a case and be a happy camper but of course life does not work that way. One thing I did not like about them though is they are very thin so will damage easily so maybe just a couple of wearing’s until they need to be replaced. I take my artificial crossdresser fingernails off every night so if I left them on all weekend I would get more out of them. I found that grabbing the nail by the tip and pulling away from the fingertip is less likely to damage the nail. Constant even pressure will eventually release the nail while twisting the nail will tear it.
Not satisfied with the medium length I went back online and found some KISS nails in the longer length but a different shape which I might file down a bit. I ordered the Salon Acrylic French (left) with the squared tips which are not a favorite with me so might get filed to me more like coffin or possibly even almond shape.

The other artificial crossdresser fingernails I purchased are the Flawless Salon Gel Nail Extensions which have a bit more taper on them and again are thin. One thing that I like and think is an asset is that when you put it on the back part is almost clear. The result is that they look like your actual nail or at least in my case it is the same as my nail bed. If I don’t quite line up the nail on my nail it won’t be noticeable which is nice. I will give them a test drive in a couple of weeks at a formal event I will be attending.
Realistically I think that even finding artificial crossdresser fingernails that work very well I will continue looking for another solution. Because I remove them every night I don’t think the ones above will hold up very long like my Talon nails do. Even though the price being under $10.00 is hard to beat I fear that at some point they won’t be available or hard to find. The next step is to take my unpainted Talon nails to a nail shop and have them shape and paint them for me. That way they will fit perfect every time and will hold up better than the cheap ones.
I will be looking for a shop in Las Vegas that will work with me and maybe Talon Nails who is located in North Las Vegas has some suggestions.
