All of us have our own sense of style when it comes to crossdresser fashions. Many of us just follow what is going on in the mainstream public which is decidedly casual especially with so many people working from home. I heard a young woman online cheering a new dressier trend she sees coming for the next couple of years. She says, and I personally agree that workers will be returning to the offices this year and continue in the years that follow. Personally I hope she is correct because women dressing nicer for work will translate into more feminine styles in the stores. The picture below is one of my favorites from the mid 1990’s when my gang was making several trips to San Francisco each year. The suit I am wearing is on the dressier side but was perfect for the theater across from our hotel on Geary st. I think it was the Curran theater down the street where we saw Jersey Boys the first time.

The main reason people will return to the office is because the bosses want the team in one place. I won’t go into all the reasons because the only important one is the boss wants it. Some will refuse and voluntarily terminate their position. Those that return will quickly figure out that it pays to make a favorable impression on higher ranking people at the company. Clothes don’t have to be expensive to be classy well tailored clothing can project professionalism and confidence. Getting noticed can lead to getting opportunities not offered to the tennis shoe and denim crowd.
COVID was a distraction that had a very detrimental impact on the larger cities like Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and to a lesser extent Los Angeles. Office vacancies are a major contributor to bars, restaurants, and other neighboring businesses downfall. With the return of the office workers the other businesses will be able to recover along with the city.
San Francisco was a major influence on my crossdresser fashions because we stayed a couple of blocks off Union Square which was bordered by Macy’s, Saks 5th Avenue, and Neiman Marcus. Then a short walk just down hill on Powell St. took us to Nordstrom’s and other stores in the Westfield Mall. In the 90’s and early 2,000’s the women’s sections were full of Micki style crossdresser fashions. Dresses, tailored skirt suits were everywhere in addition to a glorious selection of heels, especially slides.

I experienced a personal milestone on one of my first trips to the Macy’s chunky chicks section where my sizes lived. I had picked up a couple of dresses I was planning on buying hoping they would fit knowing I could exchange them the next day. The woman who was working that section called me honey and asked if I would like to try them on. She volunteered to get me a dressing room and I gratefully accepted following her lead to the dressing rooms. After securing me a room and hanging the dresses for me she left telling me she would be back to check on me. She told me she would gladly get me a smaller or larger size if I needed one.
It was quite a high being totally accepted for who I was and treated just like any other woman customer. She even critiqued how the dresses fit me offering her advice and even bringing other dresses I might like. Fast forward 25 years and most stores are also supportive especially the Fashion Show Mall in Las Vegas. They have a Dillard’s in addition to Macy’s, Nordstrom’s and Saks 5th Ave and I have found all very supportive.
So here’s hoping the year 2026 becomes the year of people supporting my crossdresser fashions goal of dressy outings. If they don’t want to go to the office I’m OK with them wearing dresses and heels while working from home but, they will have more fun at work.

Micki, like you, my tranny heyday was the 90’s. Somehow, today’s fashions of pajamas, loungewear, leggings and hoodies just aren’t as tempting to wear. Therein lies the problem for some of us older gals. The thrill isn’t there unless we’re getting our glam on. You always look classy and elegant in all your pics.
Thanks for your comment Grace. I am an all or nothing glam gurl so no room for casual unless shopping.
Best,
Micki

Working remotely does have advantages, but I would have loved going to the office in a cute skirt and top. Now that I am retired (again) I am making up for earlier missed opportunities by going out regularly.
Hi Kim,
I am with you with the skirt and top but not the office. It would have been a distraction from my work so never did it. Like you though I have been making up for it ever since.
Best,
Micki
