Still in the crossdressing orbit which has turned into a bit of a crossdressing drought at the same time. I had to cancel and reschedule my new July adventure that I was so much looking forward to. If nothing pops up and gets in the way I will do it later this month which will probably work a little better with cooler weather. All of us know we need to let the genie out of the bottle on a regular basis for a tranquil existence. I know its getting bad when my wife starts asking me to change my plans and do it sooner because I am getting bitchy about stuff. It seems the genie in the bottle is now becoming the beast within!
One thing that gives me a temporary uplift is thinking about and planning events I would like to attend in the next couple of months. DIVA Las Vegas is the soonest starting the last couple days of September into the first week of October. Literally days later is TG Rocktober October 9th thru 13th also in Las Vegas. Then a month later is the Lake Erie Gala held in Erie Pennsylvania which I have never attended but heard great things about.

While crossdressing is the common theme for all they each differ in their structure. DIVA’s events are all volunteer based coordinated by individual attendees. I have done the Ruth’s Chris dinner and quiet common gatherings at a cocktail lounge in the past. It involves making a dinner reservation with the restaurant for a large group then coordinating with people wanting to attend the dinner and the restaurant. DIVA has many different events day and night with options going on some at the same time and others staggered at different times. This event has more going on than any other I have experienced but they are carefully scheduled so there is ample time to go from one to the other. They try to have 3 different price levels for dinners with Ruth’s Chris on the high end along with a mid range like Olive Garden then something lower cost so everyone can participate. The same goes with entertainment options like shows and tours.

TG Rocktober is more streamlined with evening events primarily with more emphasis on entertainment than daytime outings. I think most girls end up at the Fashion Show Mall nearby and don’t need any help. This year they have a Wednesday night Karaoke at Dust Nightclub for the early bird arrivals followed by the main welcome event on Thursday night at Bahama Breeze restaurant. The entertainment that night will be at the new Sphere Experience event center for those who purchased tickets. The final night is downtown on your own for dinner followed by a fun night out at the Troy nightclub above Freemont St.

Lake Erie is the most structured of the events and seems more like the old conventions I went to years ago. Starting with the welcome dinner party on Wednesday night there are day and night events even luncheons most days. Because so much of the event is held inside the hotel I think this is a good place for first timers. There is a vendor area where 1st timers can shop and learn from professionals there with their specialties. Typically there are wig sellers, makeup artists, along with affordable jewelry and accessories. This year they have a professional photographer who is a member of the community that transitioned several years ago. She will be doing portrait photography for attendees that book appointments with her.

The Sunday farewell breakfast brings back memories of my very first crossdressing event the Texas “T” Party in San Antonio in the early 1990’s. It was so much fun trying to figure out which guys were wearing what the night before. It was great fun and full of amazing surprises once peoples voices gave them away.

Hi Micki,
Reading your post all most makes me wish I was an American 😋. I told Paulette I wouldn’t be at DLV. I did thoroughly enjoyed last years event but it is unfortunately cost prohibitive for this girl. The dollar difference, roughly 50% once you add in the credit card charges and the ridiculously expensiveness of Las Vegas made it impossible to justify the cost.
A trans girlfriend of mine in Kamloops helps organize the Esprit Gala each year in Port Angeles. I found that I can attend for 5 days and the cost is around $850 for everything except food and drink. The best part for me is that I can drive there. So I’ve told her that I’ll be there in many for sure.
The sad part is I won’t be able to reacquaint my self with all you girls this year. Meeting you and my internet girl friends along with all the new girls was the highlite of my time at DLV. Take care girl and enjoy your weekend.
Trish ❤️
Hi Trish,
I completely understand your situation I stayed in Vancouver last year at the Hyatt and thought I bought the hotel. Even with a favorable exchange rate it was a fortune. I won’t be doing DIVA this year for different reasons so you would not have seen me anyway but we can still e-mail.
Las Vegas has to reinvent itself every few years to stay on top in the entertainment world because gambling is no longer the big draw. The $3.95 steak and eggs all you can eat breakfasts are long gone and the $20.00 per night hotels rooms will be blown up soon (Tropicana) to make way for something else. Entertainment is the focus now with big name acts doing residency’s (Shania Twain) and sports teams for every major sport now local including formula one along with the Sphere. My $112.00 nights at the Palazzo have been in the rear view mirror for a couple of years now because there is no longer an off season or week in Las Vegas. $20.00 cocktails are there to stay for the foreseeable future along with pricy shows.
Even with all the above it is still a great place to party and my main destination now is off the strip at places like the Tuscany Resort.
I almost booked Esprit this year after hearing so many good things about it
over the years but something got in the way. I don’t know if you knew Jim Bridges the makeup artist from LA but he told me that of all the conventions he did coast to coast in the 90’s Esprit was his favorite.
Best,
Micki

Many years ago I went to Esprit , that’s where I first met Espy , she lined me up with Joann , that was along time ago , I haven’t been there in at least 20 years , if you try to make it , I would try to join you , Karen used to be very involved in the venue
Susie
Hi Susie,
I will let you know if it loos like it will work out for me to attend next year and look forward to seeing you if I do.
I think Karen is still involved in Esprit but last time I looked her website had not been updated for a long time.
