Once again we were on our own for dinner Saturday night of TG Rocktober 2025 and so I gathered a small group of friends. Tonya, Nell, and Christina went elsewhere downtown for dinner but Michelle (VC 517) from Las Vegas joined us to make four. All of us are red meat lovers so I booked Del Frisco’s Steakhouse again not far from the hotel. Ashley drove Jane and I to the restaurant where Michelle was already waiting for us so we checked in right on time. They escorted us to a great booth just inside the restaurant but where everyone walked past us.
We had kind of a Golden Girls thing going on although Jane is not quite there yet but, the rest of us are very close in age. It’s great getting together with people who have had similar life experiences from different parts of the U.S. Everyone was impeccably dressed which was duly noted by the women coming to dinner with other groups. Our server shared with us that we were making a big impression on the ladies. Several had asked about us and made favorable comments on our being well dressed. In previous posts I have written about being well dressed, over dressed, along with being good ambassadors for our community. Based on the ladies comments I think its fair to say that we nailed it!
One of the highlights for me personally was when I asked our server where the ladies room was and he offered to show me. He went as far as to offer me his arm and walk me through the restaurant to the back where the bathrooms are. He was even so gracious as to open the door for me which I much appreciated. It gave me great cover in the event some woman had an issue with me in the ladies room. I was not only told where the ladies room was but escorted their and invited in. I don’t know how you top that one.
We had such a great time at dinner that because they were not rushing us to leave Jane asked if we could stay longer. She volunteered to sit at the bar but our server told us we could sit anywhere we wanted so we stayed in the booth and they served us drinks. I was never a dance til dawn person so appreciate the time I spend just hanging out with like minded people. One thing that is really nice about TG Rocktober is that you have plenty of free time and can opt in or out of the structured events.
We rapped things up about 10:30 and headed back to the Tuscany Hotel for a nightcap. One of my favorite things with large events is to meet different people and the fire pits outside the bar a great place to do it. When TGR people see you sitting there typically the join you for a bit to socialize.
I give myself an “F” for photography on Saturday night because once again I put it off until later on in the evening then forgot to do it. I always like to get a whole body shot of just me for that nights post but not this time.
