First Event (Boston) started yesterday but social media buzz has been on going about it for some months as friends make arrangements to meet up there. While First Event is the 1st event of they year its by far not the only one as registration for Keystone (Harrisburg) and Esprit (Port Angeles) are open now for people to sign up. The excitement around these and other events is different for first timers vs return attendees. Crossdresser bonds have been formed in many cases by return attendees from previous experiences where people look forward to connecting again. For the newcomer there is no experience to reflect on so they are full of anticipation.
The great advantage for many of us at theses events is that they are a starting point for many of the crossdresser bonds we enjoy. We all had our own 1st time attending an event where many times it was also the first time we ever met another crossdresser. The lunches and dinners where you join with 7 or 8 strangers at a table forces conversation where information flows. Sometimes that results in introductions to people at other tables based on recommendations of current table mates.
PERSONAL CROSSDRESSING BONDS
Typically no sensitive information is shared in theses initial conversations just stuff like where you live like LA and go out dressed in Hollywood to restaurants and clubs. That’s enough to justify some interest in meeting each other and see what develops. Sometimes it leads to further introductions or networking as they say which was my experience that led to several crossdressing bonds for me. It all started at a lunch table in San Antonio Texas at the famous Texas “T” Party. We have traveled all over the world with our wives ever since.
The majority of crossdressing bonds are not as involved as that example but valuable just the same and people look forward to reconnecting at events. Should a relationship to some degree result from that 1st contact many people stay in touch over the months and make arrangements to meet in person. I have lost contact with most of them over the years for various reasons but at one time we had a group of about six CHIC members who corresponded with and met up with 8 or 10 others each year at conventions. Some went to every convention but for most it was just one or two but you could always reach out to see who might be going somewhere else. That happened to me one time when I decided to stop at an event on my way home from a business trip. I reached out to some of my friends I had a crossdresser bond with to make sure I wasn’t going to be alone at the event. I still reach out to people I enjoy a crossdressing bond with in our sisterhood with to link up with when I travel to different locations.

Keystone is one of the larger events scheduled for March 19th through 23rd of this year and is a favorite of many Vanity Club sisters of mine. There will be many members attending and some members are involved with the management of the event. The Vanity Club itself evolved out of the conferences back in the 1990’s as primarily an e-mail and photo exchange which has evolved into a worldwide transgender organization. Crossdresser bonds are not exclusive to the Vanity Club or CHIC though as many unaffiliated crossdressers connect with like minded people at events or online.
I think crossdresser bonds are very advantageous from both a friendship and an educational perspective. The friendship aspect is pretty obvious but the education advantage may not be so apparent. It comes in the form of learning from other more experienced crossdressers money saving tips and tricks. Not necessarily older teaching younger but exchanging valuable information back and forth based on the trust of the crossdresser bond.
