I have been looking into SI/AI again with respect to Crossdressing and again found some interesting information on who is and isn’t under the Transgender Umbrella. As my regular readers know I have never identified as Transgender and have rejected being under the umbrella.
I phrased it that way because it seemed to me that whoever decided to lump a bunch of groups under the so-called umbrella mixed very different people. It’s like it was easier for the news media and others just to shove any guy who ever wore women’s clothes into one non-conforming group. If you follow the link to my post, you can read what SI/AI has to say about who is under the umbrella. Notice that Crossdressers and DRAG Queens are not on the list nor should they be but that was not always the case. When I first heard about the Transgender Umbrella back in the 1990’s, Crossdressers were corralled right in with everyone else.
I was also surprised to learn that the Crossdresser population is actually larger than the Transgender folks. Hopefully Crossdressers start identifying as such so the general public has a better understanding of the different groups. I am encouraged when my site statistics show an increase in traffic for the Crossdresser Wives and Crossdresser Husbands pages. My hope is that it represents wives and girlfriends clicking on those pages to get information about Crossdressers. Maybe it will provide some comfort at a crucial point in their relationships with a Crossdresser. The right information at the right time can make or break the relationship which is my hope.
