For decades now I have been a fan of MAC crossdresser makeup because of the quality and coverage. I have experimented around with other products but always return to the MAC brand. MAC foundations are what I like best and I have experimented with most of what they offer. Liquids, creams and powders have been in my case over time. I have switched back and forth as they bring out new stuff experimenting with techniques I’ve learned.
For the last year I have been using a cream compact for my MAC crossdresser makeup foundation and contouring. Lately I have been thinking that it was too heavy especially in daytime and started pondering alternatives. I preparation for Keystone last month I decided to go back to a foundation I previously used. On the MAC website I started looking at the STUDIO RADIANT FACE AND BODY RADIANT SHEER FOUNDATION. I was looking for possibly a better match for my complexion based on descriptions they listed. I have previously had a MAC artist pick out MW 25 for my STUDIO FIX POWDER PLUS FOUNDATION. The problem is that the FACE AND BODY NUMBERS are different so I had to guess. My selections were:
W3 Warm neutral beige with rosy undertone for light to medium skin.
W4 Rosy beige with rosy undertone for medium skin.
I used both at Keystone and liked the results especially because you can build layers. It soaks in quickly and you can add all over for more coverage or just where needed.
It is good that I liked my guesses because I got a chance to validate them when I got home. Two weeks after Keystone I got an e-mail from MAC advertising their products as usual. What was different this time was something I had not noticed before. I think its going to take my MAC crossdresser makeup results to a much better place.
The picture below is from the e-mail and notice the QR codes above the foundations. If you scan the code with your phone and follow the directions they help you select a foundation. With the software you take a picture of your face and it analyzes your skin tone and recommends a foundation. To get the best results I stepped outside in the morning under a covered patio. Because you can see your image on the camera you can avoid shadows or reflections. Just a distortion free picture of your skin tone in a natural light.

The software validated my guesses and selected:
N1 Rosy beige with neutral undertone for light skin.
W1 Peachy beige with neutral undertone for light skin.
I say validated because my guesses were based on website descriptions and are close. The W3 & W4 will probably work well this summer as I tan a little. This time of year I could not be any whiter than I am now. I won’t guess again though because this was so easy I’ll just do it again in July and adjust accordingly.

So here is one for the MY HUSBAND BORROWS MY MAKEUP FILE. Over the weekend I shared my discovery with my very accepting wife. We have similar skin tones so told her to sample my two previous shades and tell me what she thinks. I explained all of the advantages referenced above and told her it would be more natural I thought. She loves them and told me they are hers now so I need to order more for me. I have to add this to my list of crossdresser milestones because she would never consider any suggestions from me. She is now an official MAC girl!
