One of CHIC’s goals for 2024 is to venture out to new restaurants the club has not been to before. Last week it was a place called Parker’s Lighthouse in the Shoreline Village area of downtown Long Beach. If you are a Long Beach Grand Prix fan you will no doubt recognize the lighthouse along with the HMS Queen Mary in the background.

There is probably no place more mainstream in the Long Beach area because Shoreline Village is a tourist area adjacent to the convention center and blocks from downtown. Saturday night the place is packed with people many of which were families out for dinner so civilian contact is inevitable. No horror stories to report just a bunch of overdressed women out for the evening and nobody showing any concern. The exception being one of the servers complimented me on my perfume which was nice. I guess we are not as bid a deal as we used to be!

I was pleasantly surprised when I broke tradition and ordered the panko crusted Ahi tuna steak on the special. I normally don’t order fish at large corporate owned type restaurants especially when they are in tourist places. It was excellent, fresh and cooked exactly the way I ordered it.
I still prefer smaller owner operated establishments but Parkers did a great job this night even though we exceeded our reserved headcount they accommodated us anyway. We were a bit cramped but it all worked out.
